Select either communication, professionalism, or people skills. 2. Then discuss the importance of developing these skills for the workplace. 3. Provide at least 2 ways in which you plan to develop and grow this skill while at COS. Consider some of the many resources, services, courses, programs, events, activities, clubs, staff, etc. at COS and in the community. As an example (you'll expand on your answer), but you might focus on communication skills and share why you feel it is important for you, your future career, and employer. Then you might highlight how you have signed up to take COMM 004, Interpersonal Communication, to build your interpersonal skills and enhance your communication awareness by completing the course with an "A" grade. Then you might also explain that you plan to apply these skills by joining the EOPS club, taking on a leadership role as the president where you will be using your interpersonal skills with members and in service activities on campus and in the community, as well as, building your network. In the workplace one of the most important skills to have is professionalism. I want to go into the career of law enforcement and you have to be professional almost all the time. No one wants to have someone working for them who is unreliable and never prepared. Communication can also fall under professionalism in the workplace, so knowing how to communicate with others is a step up. Right now I am taking an interpersonal communication class and it is helping me grow my communication skills.
